Today has been totally amazing, we have had so much fun
with this session, so today we have made hot air balloons!
After talking to the kids about how hot air rises, we not only
talked about heat but smoke and our conversation went
to a familiar time when our local fire fighters explained to us
about how smoke and heat rises, so when we have a fire we
head to the floor and crawl out.
We talked about gasses and fuel that makes things go like
airplanes. Aviation week has been a good learning experience for
the children.
For thousands of years people wanted to learn to fly. Some tried
making wings out of wood and cloth. ha ha I had a good story
to tell the kids of when I was about their age and made cardboard wings.
Right...it didn't work! In the year 1783 was the first hot air balloon made by two brothers
Jacques and Joseph Montgolfier.
Here are some pictures of the making of our hot air balloons today.

So much fun!!!
Then time for lunch and a good rest!

Aviation

In 1969 On July 20th Astronaut Neil Armstrong was
the first to step on the moon!

We made some paper airplanes and flew them
outside, the kids had a blast doing this.
We had a discussion about Aviation, when I explained
what Aviation was I asked the children to name things
that fly or go up in the sky here are some of their answers...
Airplanes, helicopter, jets, hot air balloons, kites,
frisbee's, space rockets, hang gliders, parachutes, and smoke.
Pretty brilliant id say !!!
This week our theme is Aviation and things that go up in the sky!
Aviation: The operation of heavier then air aircraft.
